Why I switched from ClickUp to Asana

When I first started my business, I was all about ClickUp. Their platform can do SO much, which is absolutely wonderful, but also part of the reason I switched to Asana...

ClickUp is great because there are truly advanced customizations that you can do to really make it your own. It also goes above and beyond your typical project management tool. They really mean it when they say "one app to replace them all." But, with great power comes great responsibility...and a learning curve. Like a huge learning curve.

I got into Asana by actually doing a system setup for a client of mine. She had purchased a course on how to set up Asana for bookkeepers but didn't have the time to do it herself. So, I went through this course, set it up, and fell in love with how straightforward it was. Simple and effective is what I'm talking about! To me, Asana is a hell of a lot easier to set up and more intuitive to use. I, also, find Asana easier to navigate as I would sometimes get lost in my ClickUp like a maze.

Asana offers great features too! Sadly, many of them require Premium or Business paid plans 👎. But, if you don't need the fancy features or if you use Zapier to integrate with other platforms and/or use some workarounds, then Asana is perfect.

Asana is a great choice for you if you:

➡️ are looking for just a project management tool

➡️ prefer simplicity and don't want the hassle of a huge learning curve

➡️ want more native integrations with other apps

➡️ are a smaller team or have the budget to upgrade to the higher tiers for more users

ClickUp is a great choice for you if you:

➡️ are looking for advanced customizations

➡️ want more automation for free

➡️ have a smaller budget (their free plan certainly packs a punch!)

➡️ don't mind putting in the time to learn all it can do and set it up (or hire someone to do it for you)

I have had clients who prefer Asana and then I have clients who prefer ClickUp. Everyone’s brains and business work a little differently and that’s OK! Choose what works best for you and your business.
